Dr Mala Mawkin is a “Rising Female Star” - Vogue UK. 

Dr Mala Mawkin was named as one of the “UK’s most influential people in digital and tech” in the 2021 BIMA 100 List. She was featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 List, Vogue UK 10 Rising Female Stars 2018 and Women of the Future UK Awards Finalist 2019 and listed as "Top 100 Women of the Future - Metaverse & Web3" 2022.

She was the host of Royal Society of Medicine's Digital Health Podcast which has over 13,000 listens in 95+ countries. Dr Mala Mawkin sat on the editorial board of the International Journal of Digital Health, a new journal in the IJS portfolio. She has also written for Microsoft’s blog, was an ambassador for The Times and has written feature articles for The Guardian.

Mala was a doctor in the NHS and has worked at institutions such as European Space Agency, working in the Space Medicine Office examining glucose tolerance in Shuttle astronauts. Dr Mawkin has also worked at Malawi’s e-health programme, Harvard & Boston Children’s Hospital’s Innovation & Digital Health Accelerator and several tech companies in London, such as Leva Clinic and Touch Surgery (acquired by Medtronic). She has published health innovation research in leading publications including the International Journal of General Medicine. Mala worked at Outlier Ventures: a London-based venture capital firm and accelerator program, investing in Web 3.0 Founders.

Within charity and advocacy, Dr Mawkin was a Trustee for the Medical Women’s Federation UK charity and advisory board member for the Ideas Foundation, supporting diversity in STEM and the creative industries. Mala has represented brands such as Nike, Barbie, and Makers for Women in Science features. Mala was awarded the Imperial College School of Medicine Alumni Award for Pastoral, Charitable and Community, and was one of 2 in her graduating cohort of 300 to be awarded a Fellowship.
